Warsaw Chamber Opera Final gala of the 29th Mozart Festival in Warsaw

On July 7, the extraordinary final Gala of the 29th Mozart Festival in Warsaw took place. The role of Mozart was played by the wonderful Marcin Cejrowski, although at first we believed that Mozart himself appeared at the Gala. There was a standing ovation, encores and words of appreciation straight from the hearts of the wonderful audience.

The wonderful Alicja Węgorzewska-Whiskerd, Ambassador of “The Inner Power” Project, appeared at the Gala in a black tailcoat designed by Dorota Goldpoint, in which she looked extremely beautiful and elegant.

The listeners could recognize famous arias, brilliant Mozart ensembles, the beauty of the melody, the liveliness of the rhythms and the specifically subdued Mozart lyricism. All these values, along with the mastery of vocal and instrumental interpretation, were one of the important elements of the gala concert. The next point of reference was opera drama: the action and “happening” of the opera on stage. Hence, the concert program included entire scenes taken from operas, e.g. showing the very baroque appearance of a sea monster (Ideomeneo Finale of Act II); the dynamic finale from Act IV of The Marriage of Figaro, presented in a “chain” arrangement typical of Mozart, the duel scene with the Commander from Act I of Don Giovanni, and the exciting but also funny finale from Act I of The Die Zauberflöte.

Stefan Plewniak prepared a program that led the listeners into the world of Mozart’s operas. Individual stage works were presented in the form of a selection of arias, ensembles and choirs. All this with the participation of outstanding soloists, the excellent vocal group of the Warsaw Chamber Opera and the MACV orchestra.
